Student Media
STORIES ARE TOLD. AWARDS ARE WON. JOBS ARE FOUND.
In the evolving world of communications, The Department of Student Media challenges students to explore diverse news outlets and build skills that will prepare them for the professional world. Students gain a wealth of experience in our program in digital media, broadcasting, design, photography, social media, marketing and more. We take what you learn in the classroom and put it into practice. Come join our team!
Do you love digital? So do we. Whatever device you're on, you can find us on our award-winning websites, in our popular Morning Buzz daily email, on our app and on your favorite social media outlet.
We have a trio of national award-winning print publications dating all the way back to 1896: The Baylor Lariat newspaper, Focus Magazine and the Roundup yearbook.
Our Lariat TV News crew is the latest addition to our team. You can find their weekly newscasts and other videos on baylorlariat.com, YouTube and the Waco City Channel.
If you love sports, our weekly Don't Feed the Bears podcast is for you. We also offer play-by-play coverage of the major Baylor sports.
Success Stories
"Working on the Roundup at Baylor was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. Commemorating a year in the life of the university I love so much was an honor and working on that book fundamentally shaped the way I write, design, edit and collaborate with people a decade later."
"Working at The Baylor Lariat has profoundly impacted the way I approach my current job. We were not just "student journalists," but actual journalists with a responsibility to inform the public."
"As a student at Baylor, I was very fortunate to be able to work on not just one, but all three student publications. The writing, design, editing and leadership experience I honed while working on these publications was invaluable and has helped me land amazing jobs since graduating."
